Release Info : Conscious deejay Prezident Brown, here in combination with singer Bunny Rugs, deliver "Johnny Was", one of the key tracks of the highly acclaimed Prezident Brown album "Prezident Selections". Of course, it was the King of Reggae - Bob "Robert Nesta" Marley - who wrote this tune back in 1976, in order to put it on his "Rastaman Vibration" album. Some 20 years later the song still remains as powerful as it was in those days, although it is done in a "modern style & fashion". The spirit and the skills of such talented artists as Prezident Brown and Bunny Rugs - the latter maybe better known as the lead singer of the internationally famous Jamaican reggae band Third World, successful with huge hits like "Now That We Found Love" and "Try Jah Love" - in combination with the outstanding talents of producer Barry O'Hare, makes this song a potential hit for everyone who loves real good music. Featured is the bonus track "Talking Drums" across a reworked "Drum Song" riddim, originally done by the late great Jackie Mittoo.
